Mirihi Island Resort Maldives has bagged four regional titles at the 2018 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

Mirihi secured the fourth place in the list of Top 10 Hotels in Maldives, seventh place in the list of Top 10 Luxury Hotels in Maldives, third spot in the list of Top 10 Hotels for Service in Maldives, and sixth spot in the list of Top 10 Hotels for Romance in Maldives.

In the 16th year of the awards, TripAdvisor has recognised 8,095 properties in 94 countries and eight regions worldwide. The hallmarks of Travellers’ Choice hotels winners are remarkable quality, service and value.

The awards celebrate hotel winners in the categories of Top Hotels Overall, Luxury, Bargain, Small, Best Service, B&Bs and Inns, Romance, Family and All-Inclusive. In addition, a new “Value for Money” hotel award category was created this year.

The highly anticipated Tourist Arrival Countdown music extravaganza was held in the capital city of Maldives on 8th January 2015 at the National Football Stadium.

The audience was entertained by the internationally acclaimed musician Akon. The R&B sensation Akon has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, has five Grammy nominations and 45 Billboard Hot 100 songs to his credit.

Guest appearance by the famous Bollywood star who won the Miss World 2000 title, Ms Priyanka Chopra who is also an international recording artist was an additional highlight to this exciting show.

This was one of the biggest music shows held in the history of the nation. Thousands of spectators gathered at the stadium to enjoy this grand event. In addition to live music by the international artists and local artists, the audience were also treated to a spectacular display of fireworks during the show.

During the fiscal year 2014, tourist arrivals to the Maldives saw an increase of 7.1% compared to 2013, reaching a total of 1,204,857 tourists, who visited the country to experience the “Sunny Side of Life” first hand.
