Citizens of Hoarafushi Island in Haa Alifu atoll had on Saturday spotted an 8-foot crocodile in the waters off the island.
According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the crocodile was spotted on Saturday evening.
"We spotted it but were unable to capture it" said an official from the MNDF said "We are currently trying to locate it again".
Residents of Kalaidhoo Island in Laamu atoll had last Sunday spotted a 10-foot crodile near the island's harbour. The animal is now being kept under the MNDF's supervision and protection.
