The national tourism promotion body has released a notice looking to establish a public relations agency to promote Maldives’ tourism in South Korea.
According to public relations news website Everything-PR, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is seeking a PR agency in South Korea whose mandate includes conduction of public relations campaigns to promote the Maldives in Korea, and relate the updates and developments to MMPRC.
The company has launched several tourism promotion campaigns such as road shows and fairs in and outside of the Maldives in a venture to lure the targeted amount of 1.5 million tourists to the archipelago this year.
Describing tourism as the driving force of the Maldives economy, Everything-PR highlights that the influx of visitors to the island nation has risen from 42,000 in 1980 to over 1.2 million in 2015, while tourist accommodation has skyrocketed from 2,400 beds to 34,105 over the same period.
