Maldives to hold its first Tourism Film Festival



For the first time in the country’s history, Maldives is set to host an International Film Festival. The event, “Following the equator”, is organized by The Sun Siyam Irufushi Maldives along with Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and National Center for the Arts (NCA). This prestigious event will take place in The Sun Siyam Irufushi Maldives on July 2016

The event aims to gather ages, interests and backgrounds at one place for the common love of arts, tourism and sports. Speaking at a conference held at Mookai Hotel, Mohamed Adam of MMPRC has mentioned that the company will promote the event in the International arena. He has also mentioned that the event has been already been promoted in the ITB Fair which was held last March in Berlin, Germany.

The film festival will go on for three days and will feature an array of events such as gala celebrations, film maker receptions, International spotlights, etc… The festival is also an opportunity to showcase the talents of the Maldives at an international level. Ahmed Nazim of NCA has also mentioned that they conduct an art exhibition along with a photo and craft exhibition. He also added that that this will display the Maldivian history, tradition and culture to the world. The event is also open to the public.
