Four Seasons Maldives' unique welcome for Italian footballer Marchisio

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa gave a unique welcome to Claudio Marchisio, the midfielder of Juventus FC and the Italian national team, who arrived in the Maldives for his winter vacation.

The staff of Four Seasons had created a sand art of the Juventus logo on the beach to welcome the renowned footballer to the island nation. Marchisio had posed behind the logo with some of the resort staff for a picture, which he had shared on his Facebook and Instagram.

Four Seasons Kuda Huraa is neighbour to the island of Huraa in Kaafu atoll, which is one of the football hubs of the country. Several former footballers of Huraa are currently employed at Four Seasons.

Several fans of Marchisio had praised his welcome reception at the resort and shared his posts on social media. His Facebook picture has received over 1,600 shares so far.

UEFA Champions League’s official Facebook page had also shared the picture, with the caption: “Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio receives a warm welcome in the Maldives!”

A local commented on UEFA’s post, “I am from Maldives. Maldivians are great at welcoming.”

Claudio Marchisio
  • Age: 29
  • Won the Italian football league four times and Italian Cup once with Juventus
  • Was instrumental to the Italian team who was the runner-up in the UEFA Euro 2012
As the Italian league is on hiatus for the Christmas and New Year holidays, it is expected that a number of footballers will arrive in the Maldives for their vacations. The German league and Spanish league are also on hiatus, whereas the English Premier League will be ongoing.
